How Mail Travels

Starting the Trip
A letter begins its trip when someone places it in a mailbox. Postal workers collect the mail and bring it to a sorting center.

Sorting and Delivery
Machines and workers sort mail by zip code and address. Then the mail is sent by truck, plane, or van to the right city and neighborhood.
