Why Trees Help Cities

Cooling the Streets
Trees provide shade that helps cool sidewalks, playgrounds, and roads. In summer, shaded places can feel much more comfortable than areas with direct sunlight.

Helping the Air
Trees take in carbon dioxide and release oxygen. Their leaves can also trap some dust from the air, helping neighborhoods stay cleaner.
