On his first day at Ridgeview Elementary, Tomas stood alone at the edge of the playground during morning recess. He didn't know anyone, and every group of kids seemed to already have their own games.

A girl named Kayla noticed Tomas standing by himself and walked over with a kickball. "Do you want to play with us?" she asked with a smile.

Tomas grinned and joined the game right away. By the end of recess, he had made two new friends and couldn't wait to see them again at lunch.
