The Lost Kite
One windy Saturday, Maya took her new red kite to Sunshine Park. She
ran across the grassy field and the kite flew up high into the blue sky.
But then a strong gust of wind snapped the string! The kite sailed away and landed in a tall oak tree.
Maya was very sad.
Her neighbor, Mr. Chen, was walking his dog nearby. He saw Maya looking up at the tree.
"Don't worry," he said. He found a long stick and carefully lifted the kite out of the branches.
"Thank you so much!" Maya cheered. She tied the string with a double knot this time, and the kite flew
beautifully for the rest of the afternoon.
