The Soggy Science Project
Late one Thursday evening, Marcus carried his volcano project down to the kitchen table in his family's apartment to add the final layer of paint. Just as he opened the paint jar, his little brother bumped the table and knocked over a glass of water onto the model.
Marcus felt his stomach drop as he watched the paper mountain turn soggy in front of him. He had spent all week building it for the science fair the next morning.
His older sister helped him gently blot the wet spots with paper towels and set a small fan nearby to dry it overnight. By morning, the volcano looked a little bumpy but still stood proudly on Marcus's desk at school.
