Why Trees Are Important

Trees do more than provide shade on a hot day. They make oxygen, hold soil in place, and give homes to many animals. A single tree can support insects, birds, and squirrels.

Tree roots help keep soil from washing away during storms. Leaves also help slow down rain as it falls. Because of this, trees can protect land and water nearby.

Cities plant trees because they improve neighborhoods in many ways. Trees can cool streets, reduce noise, and make outdoor spaces more inviting. Caring for trees benefits both people and wildlife.
