1 First Person vs. Third Person
👁️ Stories can be told from different points of view. Learn the difference!

First Person (I, me, my): The character tells their own story. "I went to the park."

Third Person (he, she, they): A narrator tells the story about someone else. "She went to the park."

2 Same Story, Different Views
📖 Read the same event told from two different points of view.
Version A (First Person):
I watched nervously as the vet examined my dog's paw. My hands were shaking as I held his leash. When the vet said it was just a small scrape, I finally let out the breath I had been holding.
Version B (Third Person):
Talia watched nervously as the vet examined her dog's paw. Her hands were shaking as she held his leash. When the vet said it was just a small scrape, she finally let out the breath she had been holding.

3 Whose Point of View?

4 Change the Point of View
✍️ Rewrite this third-person passage in FIRST person (use "I" and "my").
Third Person: Isabel saw her classmate drop an entire tray of paintbrushes during art class. She jumped up right away to help gather the scattered brushes off the floor. Her classmate thanked her, relieved that no one had stepped on the wet paint. Isabel simply smiled and said that's what friends are for.
