1 First Person vs. Third Person

👁️ Stories can be told from different points of view. Learn the difference!

First Person (I, me, my): The character tells their own story. "I went to the park."

Third Person (he, she, they): A narrator tells the story about someone else. "She went to the park."

2 Same Story, Different Views

📖 Read the same event told from two different points of view.

Version A (First Person):
I clutched my fishing rod as something tugged hard on the line. My arms strained as I reeled it in slowly. When the fish finally broke the surface, I laughed out loud in disbelief.

Version B (Third Person):
Julian clutched his fishing rod as something tugged hard on the line. His arms strained as he reeled it in slowly. When the fish finally broke the surface, he laughed out loud in disbelief.

4 Change the Point of View

✍️ Rewrite this third-person passage in FIRST person (use "I" and "my").

Third Person: Victor watched his little cousin struggle to tie her shoelaces before the race. He knelt down and showed her the bunny-ear method his grandpa taught him. She practiced twice and then tied them herself with a proud grin. Victor cheered the loudest when she crossed the finish line.
