1 Cause & Effect Matching
๐ A cause is WHY something happens. An effect
is WHAT happens. Draw a line to match each cause to its effect.
Remember: Cause โ WHY | Effect โ
WHAT happened
CAUSE (Why?)
The waiter spilled water on the table.
Nina practiced her lines every night.
The construction crew worked all week.
The cat knocked a vase off the shelf.
The teacher opened the windows.
EFFECT (What happened?)
The tablecloth got soaked.
She remembered the whole play perfectly.
The new playground slide was finally finished.
The vase shattered on the floor.
A cool breeze filled the classroom.

4 Cause & Effect in a Story
๐ Read the short story. Find TWO cause-and-effect pairs.
Grace noticed her class hamster, Nibbles, had stopped eating his food. She told her teacher right away, and they discovered his water bottle was empty. Grace refilled the bottle and added fresh food to his bowl. By the next morning, Nibbles was back to nibbling happily. The class made a chart so someone would always remember to check his food and water.
