1 What Are Sources?
📚 A source is where you find information. Different sources are good for different things.

📖 Book · 📰 Magazine/Newspaper · 🌐 Website · 👩‍🏫 Expert/Interview · 📕 Encyclopedia

Books and encyclopedias give reliable, detailed facts. Newspapers cover current events. Websites are quick but need checking. Experts share real firsthand knowledge.

Which source would you use? Write your answer.
I want to find out… Best Source
What's happening at city hall this week
Everything about the solar system
What it's like to be an astronaut
A quick fact about how long it takes to reach Mars
2 Read Two Sources
📖 Read these two source texts about the International Space Station. Look for information in each one.
Source 1: Encyclopedia Entry
The International Space Station, or ISS, is a large spacecraft that orbits Earth and houses astronauts from many countries. It travels around Earth about every 90 minutes, meaning the crew sees roughly sixteen sunrises and sunsets each day. Astronauts on the ISS conduct science experiments that can't be done on Earth, such as studying how plants grow without gravity. The station has been continuously occupied since the year 2000, making it one of humanity's longest-running space projects.
Source 2: Interview with Astronaut Commander Julia Ford
"Watching a sunrise every ninety minutes while circling Earth on the ISS quickly became the best part of my six-month mission. Teamwork honestly matters more up there than anyone back home could imagine. Countries proved something amazing by working together to build and run that station."
3 Compare the Sources
🔍 Answer these questions using both sources about the International Space Station.
