1 Combine with "and"

🔗 Make one sentence from two using the word "and". The first one is done for you.

I like cats. I like dogs.	I like cats and dogs. ✓
She can sing. She can dance.
We ate pizza. We ate salad.
He ran fast. He jumped high.
The sun is bright. The sun is warm.

2 Combine with "but"

🔗 Use the word "but" when two ideas are different or opposite.

I like pizza. I don't like mushrooms.	I like pizza, but I don't like mushrooms. ✓
The dog is big. The cat is small.
It was raining. We went outside.
She wanted to play. She had homework.

3 Combine with "because"

🔗 Use "because" to explain WHY.

What Happened + Why	Combined Sentence
She brought an umbrella. It was raining.	She brought an umbrella because it was raining. ✓
He was happy. He got a new bike.
We stayed inside. It was too cold.
The plants grew tall. They got lots of sun.

4 Choose the Best Connector
